what sort of information do we collect?

Leading Edge collects information about two main groups of people – students and teachers.

The information we collect about students almost always comes from students (or their mums, dads or guardians) directly. It's limited just to information that is relevant to what we do – providing educational courses and resources. So it normally includes name, contact details, school and what subjects you study. If you are enrolled in one of our regular courses, we will also have information about your involvement in the course, such as results and admin. records such as payment and attendance information.

The information we collect about teachers usually comes from those teachers themselves, although sometimes other teachers and school administrators will help us to update our lists. We keep information about teachers on our files so that we can send relevant information about publications, conferences and other events to those teachers.

When you browse our website, you do so anonymously. We do not use cookies or other devices to collect information that can tell us how you personally use our site.

What do we do with your personal information?

Generally, we collect information about you so that we can provide you with goods and services which you request and send you with information about our events, products and services. We will normally give you the option to say yes or no to receiving further information from us in the future.

We normally keep students who are on our database aware of major events and new products throughout the years with around 3 or 4 letters and a few email messages. Please let us know if you are receiving mail from us and don't want further information to be sent to you.

when do we disclose your personal information to others?

We do not disclose your personal information to other companies or organisations. The two exceptions to this are that we will sometimes exchange information with other companies that are part of Pearson Education Australia (our textbook publishers), and we sometimes have outside service providers who might help deliver some of our services (e.g. a mailing house that distributes our books and newsletters). We do not share email or address information of our customers with unrelated businesses.
